Overview

Children and young people in care benefit hugely from having a consistent, friendly adult in their lives outside of statutory social work. OBK provides independent visiting that focuses on the young person, their interests and their voice, offering steady support alongside their care team.

Regular one-to-one visits with a qualified, DBS-checked practitioner. Visits are arranged around the young person's interests, building trust over time. We listen, advocate where appropriate, and feed back to those with parental responsibility in line with agreed arrangements.

Who this service is for

  • Looked-after children and young people, including those in foster or residential care
  • Local authorities meeting their Children Act 1989 independent visitor duties
  • Care leavers wanting continuing supportive contact
  • Children placed out of area who need a consistent visitor

What happens next

From your first enquiry to the final report, we keep things clear, well-paced and easy to follow. Here is what to expect:

    Referral and matching

The local authority or carer shares background, interests and any specific needs.

  2. 2

    Introductory meeting

An informal first visit to meet the young person and agree how visits will work.

  3. 3

    Regular visits

Consistent visits at an agreed frequency, focused on the young person's interests and wellbeing.

  4. 4

    Reporting and review

Brief, factual records shared with the placing authority and reviewed regularly.

If you are unsure whether this service is right for your situation, get in touch and we will talk it through with you. There is no obligation.

Why choose OBK
